Developer/System Administrator for Domain Name Registry (London, UK)

by Matt Lee Contributions Published on Oct 09, 2008 11:20 AM
Seeking a talented, enthusiastic and creative Developer/System Administrator to join our technical operations team.

CentralNic is seeking talented, enthusiastic and creative people to join its technical operations team, based in the City of London.

CentralNic is a leading provider of domain name registry services. As part of its team, you will be involved in the operation of a sophisticated domain name registry system, providing critical services that underpin the Internet. CentralNic is a well-established (1995) and profitable company, with a disruptive start-up approach to doing business. We take pride in our technical innovation, rapid rate of development, and entrepreneurial attitude.

You will work with a small (but growing) team of developers, designers and engineers, reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer. Your work will be a mix of project-based applications and product development, building new services and features on top of CentralNic's platform, and providing ongoing maintenance, development and support for existing systems.

You should have at least one year's experience of development on, and administration of, Unix or GNU/Linux platforms, using programming languages such as PHP, Perl, Java or C/C++. Some experience of GNU/Linux system administration, including managing Apache, MySQL, BIND and/or PowerDNS, and GNU/Linux iptables is also desirable.

Daily duties may also include handling second-level technical support calls. Good knowledge of DNS is highly preferable.

This role is an ideal opportunity for a committed and professional individual to assist in building a robust, stable and high-performance network infrastructure for a fast-growing and innovative company. A successful candidate can expect to see their own role expand alongside the company's own expansion and development.

If you are interested in applying this position, please email, with a short cover note, and your CV or resumé in PDF, Word, HTML or plain text format.
