November 2016: Photos from Lisbon
RMS was in Lisbon, Portugal, this month to give a
stand-alone speech, “Should We Have More Surveillance Than the
USSR?”1, hosted by the
Núcleo de Alunos de Ciência Política (the political-science students'
group), at the Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE), on November
10th. FSF member and the event organizer Daniel Sousa
underscored the advantage of being able to reach such a broad
audience, especially in light of the how Portugal's “most recent
governments have been taking measures that are quite Orwellian for
fighting tax evasion”2:

…and to take part in Web Summit
(2016-11-07–10), a technology marketplace. RMS was one of the
six hundred speakers and gave his speech “Reclaim Your
Freedom with Free (Libre) Software” to an audience of about
a thousand developers and engineers:
