I have some big shoes to fill

by Joshua Gay Contributions Published on Jun 12, 2012 06:17 PM
Joshua Gay is the new licensing and compliance manager at the FSF.

I'm sad to announce that I will no longer be able to work alongside Brett Smith, who served as the FSF's licensing and compliance engineer since 2007, but whom I first worked with at the FSF a decade ago when we both were interns for a summer. Brett has moved on to work with the World Wide Web Consortium and we wish him the best of luck! And, I hope you will all wish me the best of luck as I am changing roles here at the FSF. I am moving from campaigns manager to the newly re-branded, “licensing and compliance manager.”

But, the truth is, I don't need much luck. I have the good fortune of being able to join this position as part of a licensing team with Donald Robertson, III. And then of course, we have a great group of licensing volunteers as well as the generous time and support of the Software Freedom Law Center.

Donald and I have some big plans, and I hope you'll check out his blog post to see some of the things he's most excited about!

But, instead of telling you about all of the things I want to do as licensing and compliance manager, I would like you to tell me what you think we should be doing! Please send email to jgay@fsf.org with your candid feedback and suggestions for ways we can grow and improve as a licensing and compliance team.

You can contact the licensing team licensing@fsf.org, and you can keep up with updates from us by subscribing to http://fsf.org/blogs/licensing/RSS. Support our work by making a donation or joining as a member.
