FSD meeting recap 2025-07-25

by Craig Topham Contributions Published on Jul 28, 2025 03:25 PM
Check out the important work our volunteers accomplished at today's Free Software Directory (FSD) IRC meeting.

Every week, free software activists from around the world come together in#fsf on Libera.Chat to help improve the FSD, which is a catalog of useful free software that runs under free GNU-like systems (not limited to the GNU operating system and its GNU/Linux variants) and a project of the Free Software Foundation (FSF). This recaps the work we accomplished at the Friday 25th, 2025 meeting, where we saw a couple of new programs added.

Thank you volunteers

Each week we like to thank the IRC volunteers who worked on the Directory during the meeting.

A special thanks to:

  • hwpplayer1
  • nnq
  • kuber

New programs approved with licensing check:

  • ALTCHA is a GDPR, WCAG 2.2 AA, and EAA compliant, self-hosted CAPTCHA alternative with PoW mechanism and advanced anti-spam filter.

  • Favicons is a favicons generator for Node.js.

Programs with version bumps or minor edits:

  • Etcher is a cross-platform GUI for burning OS images to SD cards and USB drives.

  • TOIlet is an Ascii art banner generator.

Join us each week to help improve the FSD every Friday in #fsf on [Libera.Chat][0] from 12:00 to 15:00 EDT (16:00 to 19:00 UTC). Find out more about upcoming FSD IRC Meetings by subscribing to our events RSS feed.
