Creative Commons is on the look out for a new full-time Software Engineer.

Creative Commons is on the look out for a new full-time Software Engineer to create, test, implement and maintain software for internal and external use by Creative Commons under the supervision of the CTO. We would like the software engineer to be based in the San Francisco office, starting as soon as possible. Working from home/remotely is flexible on occasion. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze user specifications and requirements.
  • Encode, test, debug, and document programs.
  • Prepare technical specifications, test plans and programs of a highly technical or complex nature.
  • Write operational documentation.
  • Revise and update programs and documentation as required.
  • Investigate new technologies.
  • Support partners in the use of Creative Commons technologies.
  • Skill Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of Python, PHP, SQL, XHTML, RDF, Javascript, software design, engineering techniques and best practices.
  • Excellent debugging skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of GNU/Linux.
  • Excellent written and spoken technical communication.
  • Experience with developing User Interfaces.
  • Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of Java and J2EE application development and deployment.
