The Mission:
We currently have an opening for a self motivated junior developer to continue development and support of our internal and external applications. These applications include web based affiliate marketing, backup management and network monitoring software. Responsibilities will include code immersion, testing, debugging and security analysis. This position is well suited for those individuals with sound PHP and MySQL knowledge and some contracting or application development experience looking to expand their skill set.
Long Term Goals:
Once ramped up, this position will lead to full life cycle management duties such as product installation and upgrades, second tier emergency support, new technology implementation, and coordinating external partner product implementations. Other job responsibilities will include security, break/fix and upgrade support for existing legacy installs.
Required Experience:
Full application life cycle development for GNU/Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP based applications
Complete understanding of XHTML and XMLHttpRequest object
Experience with e-commerce processors
Experience with Smarty templates and website management systems concepts
Understanding of fundamental Internet Protocols (DNS, HTTP, SSH,SMTP, FTP)
Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming background
Experience with source revision management systems (specifically subversion)
Creative problem-solving skills and an ability to apply business logic to development requirements
Strong knowledge of database and information architecture, with web application integration
Required Skills:
PHP 5 OOP
MySQL 5.x
Web application development
Excellent understanding of relational databases
Excellent analytical / trouble shooting skills
Once assigned a task, needs to be able to work independently, while communicating with other teams
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are essential to open dialog with the customers, internal team and external partners
Cross-browser/platform debugging and development
Bonus Skills:
Perl scripting (non OOP)
Java
Knowledge of internet advertising, e-mail marketing, traffic metrics, and affiliate advertising
Relational database design
MySQL or other RDBMS stored routines and triggers.
