Primary Accountability:
This position is accountable for the delivery of high-quality technical solutions for specialist
online projects, principally for the Sciences department.
Duties:
Undertake independent planning, design and programming functions associated with
the research, development and maintenance of Museum Victoria specialist online
projects; including consideration of the variability in end user systems, Museum style
and associated accessibility and usability issues.
Provide expert technical advice and recommendations to project teams related to
best practice systems for delivery of modern online services.
Ensure effective implementation & integration of database systems with existing
business and collection systems; includes project planning, coordination, prioritisation
and time management.
Undertake independent research & development of new technologies and emerging
trends in the field of online publishing to enhance the delivery of specialist online
projects.
Develop technical and instructional documentation for Museum Victoria staff and
external collaborators.
Comply with Museum Victoria's policies and procedures and with relevant legislation
and regulations.
Note:
The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this
document, but within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from
persons occupying positions at this classification level.
Selection Criteria:
Extensive experience developing with web-based programming languages;
particularly PHP, xhtml, XML, CSS and JavaScript, and associated server platforms.
Extensive experience of development using the Drupal website management system
software.
Demonstrated expertise in database design, development and integration in an online
environment.
Advanced knowledge of analysis, design, development, and implementation of online
technology; including experience in applying Worldwide Web Consortium (W3C)
guidelines, user experience and interaction design principles.
Demonstrated experience in, and advanced knowledge of, online user experience
design.
Demonstrated understanding of, and experience applying, project management
methodologies.
Well developed interpersonal and written communication skills; including the capacity
to work effectively and collaboratively with team members and key stakeholders on
complex projects.
The successful applicant must be willing to undergo, and meet the cost of, a National
Police Records Check and be assessed as suitable.
