Web Programmer, 2 Positions, (Montreal, Quebec, CA)

Seeking a developer who will: Support the University’s web development by coding, testing and deploying complex programs and processes as specified by senior staff. Participate in development and maintenance of web-based systems. Develop interactive web interfaces.

Position Title: Web Programmer (IST1A)
Faculty/Unit: Information Technology Services
Salary Range: (GRADE 03) $42,200 - $52,800 (midpoint) - $63,400
Reporting To: Manager, Programming and Imaging (Content and Collaboration Solutions)
Reference #: 09-0924/MR6268, MR6786 (two positions available)

KEY ROLES:

Provide consulting expertise to the University community and high level information systems support and services that enhance and maintain the University's existing central systems; and provide local area network management services for a wide variety of administrative and academic units, ensuring the security and confidentiality of data. Implement practical procedures or systems that are moderately complex, according to established goals and objectives, to support the unit's operations and to ensure that services meet or exceed established quality standards. Provide technical advice and guidance to the University community. Maintain good rapport with students and staff. Establish and foster effective working relationships by identifying and responding to their needs and providing support in the delivery of information systems support and services.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education: DEC III (Computer Science Technology or related field)
Experience: Three (3) years' related experience

OTHER QUALIFYING SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES:

Proven organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines. Must have knowledge of web standards (W3) and web security (XSS, SQL injections, etc). Knowledge of PHP 5, Javascript, DOM, AJAX/JSON, SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL), XML. Ability to work with free software tools and frameworks such as JQuery, Mootools, Eclipse, and Firebug. Must understand database concepts. Knowledge of Python, GNU/Linux, Drupal module development, and website management systems. English, spoken and written; French, spoken.
