Tikatok.com is a dynamic new company offering an online community where children write their own stories and publish them into hardcover books. We are looking for a responsible, detail-oriented person. This is a full-time, remote position that requires working out of the home.


Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced, intelligent, talented and enthusiastic Senior Web Developer to drive development of Tikatok. This position will work closely with product and marketing teams. The major responsibilities of the Senior PHP Developer will be:

  • Design, develop, and debug Web applications.
  • Using creativity to innovate new products to enhance user experience.
  • Keeping up with new Internet standards and Web technologies (Web 2.0, AJAX, Ruby on Rails, etc.)

    • Technical Requirements:

    The ideal candidate will have:

  • Expertise in working with PHP and MySQL, cross-browser CSS and Javascript techniques.
  • Proficiency with front-end scripting including: HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX.
  • Familiarity with the Symfony a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with web application architecture and relational database design.
  • Exposure to server-side scripting languages such as JSP.
  • Exposure to object-oriented languages.
  • Familiarity with GNU/Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP.
  • Professional experience building database-driven web applications and websites.
  • Understanding coding methods, best practices and full software development lifecycle.

    • General Requirements:

  • 5+ years professional web development experience.
  • 3+ years managerial experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to tightly manage time and project responsibilities and able to work on multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to multi-task, and adjust to ever changing requirements.
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Works independently and takes initiative, with little or no supervision while remaining focused and energized.
  • BS in Comp Science or a related field.
