We are seeking a top-notch PHP programmer who strongly believes that making a difference in the world is important.

Code for a Cause

Actually, if you join PICnet you'll be coding for a whole lot of causes. PICnet is leading the way in bringing free web management software to non-profit clients around the country. We're a small, fast-moving technology firm that knows how to add value to the free software tools we use, and knows that it's best to contribute value back to the communities that create that software.

What to bring to the table

We'd love to hear from you if you're a top-notch PHP programmer who strongly believes that making a difference in the world is important, who can work comfortably in GNU/Linux and Apache, who can share workloads with other developers, who knows Joomla!, MySQL, and PHP to a professional depth, and who is ready to have some fun when the working's done, or maybe even while working. If you can help us with a some sysadmin tasks, that would be even better.

After all the hard work, you'll need to be willing to have fun: come to our annual retreat, play putt-putt golf in the hallways, and laugh at least twice a workday. The right applicant will need the following tech qualifications.

  • PHP (especially Joomla experience) of 3+ years
  • MySQL of 3+ years
  • We have also developed Non-Profit Soapbox, a powerful website management software for non-profits that uses a heavily modified version of Joomla! to give non-profits a tool they can set up in minutes, tailor to their needs in weeks, and take full ownership of for ever and ever, amen.

Of course, we highly encourage sharing with the community. Our developers contribute code to the Joomla! project, our CEO is on the board of the foundation that manages the project, and we participate and lead conferences around the world focused on Joomla!, free software, and technology for non-profits. PICnet's reputation with clients and competitors is outstanding.

    The not so fine print

Salary is commensurate with experience. We're located in Dupont Circle, Washington, DC, and candidates must be able to work in our offices (no outsourced or telecommuting workers).

If the prospect of doing some coding as part of the interview process gets you excited, we definitely want to hear from you.
