We are looking for a talented, detail-oriented person with experience and expert knowledge in software development, PHP, and MySQL. Familiarity with Drupal is desired, but not required. This is a full-time position.

Yoursphere.com seeks a talented, detail-oriented person with experience and expert knowledge in software development, PHP, and MySQL. Familiarity with Drupal is desired, but not required.


Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside other developers and product managers to evaluate project requirements, determine technical direction, and implement online applications.
  • Software development, mostly in PHP5, MySQL, and the Drupal API.
  • Follow best practices re: security and Drupal technical architecture.
  • Accurate estimation of tasks to be done.
  • Follow directions from lead developer on technical design.
  • Work closely with other developers and designers.

  • Requirements:

  • PHP and MySQL programming/coding knowledge/experience required.
  • Experience writing and maintaining unit and/or acceptance tests a big plus (PHPUnit, SimpleTest, Junit, Selenium, etc.).
  • High standards for code quality and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently on complex tasks.
  • Familiarity with Drupal best practices, community, and existing contrib modules a plus.
  • Prior experience working as a team member.
  • Strong CSS and XHTML skills.
  • Experience with Javascript programming, JQuery, and Ajax.
  • Experience using version control.
  • Written and verbal communication skills for communications by phone, email and IM.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, but also good at collaboration, taking direction and working with others.
  • Proficiency in the English language.
  • Strong knowledge of Drupal and the Drupal API. (If Drupal is new to you, interest and ability to rapidly learn the Drupal API is required. Drupal expertise is expected within a short timeframe.)
  • GNU/Linux, Apache, basic server administration knowledge a big plus.

  • Other:

  • We offer medical and dental, two weeks vacation per year. Ability to take one week vacation after minimum of 7 mos with the team.
  • Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.
  • After 90 days, equity awarded.

  • It's a plus if you live in the Sacramento/Bay Area and can come into our Davis office one time a week and work remotely the rest of the time, but we will consider a different arrangement for the right person.
