Westin Consulting is a young marketing/software development firm seeking a full-time Ruby on Rails web application developer. The ideal candidate is mainly an RoR developer with a varied skill set.

We are seeking a developer who enjoys being challenged, thinks critically and has a passion for creating easy-to-use web applications. If your skills fit the criteria below and you are looking for a challenging and rewarding work environment, we look forward to hearing from you.

Required Skills:

  • At least 4 years experience developing production web-based applications
  • Ruby on Rails
  • Above average CSS, HTML, UI Design skills
  • JavaScript Framework (Prototype, jQuery, etc) and AJAX
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with a team
  • MySQL and/or Postgres administration (min 2 years)
  • PHP development
  • Strong knowledge of Apache administration (redirects, memory limits, adding domains, adding modules)
  • Knowledge of free software projects and frameworks
  • Good information architecture and UI management skills
  • Meticulous QA and documentation
  • Server hardware, network administration
  • Bash scripting, perl scripting
  • Ability to turn .png files or html templates into finished product
  • ability to set and meet deadlines
  • a positive "can-do" attitude

  • Bonus Skills:

  • Haml, Sass, Blueprint
  • Git
  • Extensive knowledge of GNU/Linux Server administration
  • Free software contribution
  • Web design and SEO skills (a plus but not required)
