Senior Software Engineer, (North Andover, MA)

We are looking for an individual to work as part of a small team to maintain, develop and extend the infrastructure that runs our web site. This is a full-time position.

We are located in the Boston Metro North area.

Duties and Responsibilities

As part of a small team, you will be responsible for:

  • Taking business requirements for a feature and translating them into a technical approach.
  • Writing the code to create the feature and integrating into the existing infrastructure.
  • Creating code-level tests for the feature.
  • Fixing problems in existing products.

    • You will need to:

  • Communicate well and frequently with members of the team, and the rest of the business.
  • Be willing and able to switch tasks rapidly.
  • Take initiative when you see a need.

    • Skills and Background

  • 4+ years in a commercial, object-oriented, programming environment.
  • Very substantial experience working with the view tier of web applications (‘View’ of MVC).
  • Substantial experience working with the model tier of web applications (‘Model’ of MVC).
  • Very substantial experience with Ajax, JavaScript.
  • Significant experience with Ruby On Rails desirable.
  • Significant experience with interpreted languages – one or more of Python, PHP, Ruby, Perl – and their associated web frameworks - beneficial.
  • Proficiency in at least one compiled languages – C, others – a plus.
