Application Developer, (Nashville, TN or Portland, OR)

Emma is on the hunt for a creative software developer to help build our next generation of web-based communications products.

As a member of the Application Development team, you'll work with various free languages and software to power Emma's deceptively easy-to-use interface. While we in AppDev get down with the nitty-gritty of scaling concerns and database query performance, we're more often focused on the challenge of turning the dreams of our User Experience crew into reality.

On any given day, you might be writing a new jQuery plugin or pushing up the next release of some homegrown free Python library to github. At the same time you might be sharing your ideas and experience about that next awe-inspiring feature. We're a tightly-knit group looking for an enthusiastic and thoughtful developer who's an even better team player.

Contact us and be sure to point us to some code or work of which you are particularly proud. We love github or bitbucket profiles!

Absolute Must Haves:

* Proven development skills in Python, or a similar high-level
  language
* Experience with Javascript, specifically using jQuery
* Familiarity with relational database systems
* Familiarity with a wide range of internet technologies, such as
HTTP, SMTP, Ajax, caching, web services, and so on
* Excellent and creative problem-solving skills

Things That Would Also Be Nice:

* Experience with agile development practices.
* Experience with Django or similar web frameworks
* In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL
* Experience with the performance and scalability of high
  volume systems

We are currently looking for folks who would like to live and work in Nashville, TN or Portland, OR, with relocation possible for the right candidate.

To Apply:

Email a resume, cover letter, and applicable code samples or links to Sara Mcmanigal.
