Richard Stallman will be speaking at RightsCon Southeast Asia (2015-03-24--25).

Snowden brought many revelations of global spying to the public, but one of the biggest themes in these revelations is that governments can always subvert proprietary software and services through legal, technical, and financial pressure.

Many say that the only alternative for us is to build a full ecosystem of free software and hardware, where users have the freedom to cooperate and control their own computing environment, their own data, and ultimately their own human rights. In this session, founder of the free software movement Richard Stallman discusses this dichotomy, the current state of the movement, and challenges.

This speech will be nontechnical and the public is encouraged to attend.
