Bitcoins: A new way to donate to the FSF

by John Sullivan Contributions Published on May 05, 2011 04:52 PM
The FSF is now accepting Bitcoin donations.
Update August 8, 2013: You can access improved instructions for donating Bitcoin and now Litecoin at https://my.fsf.org/donate/.

Today, we joined the list of organizations accepting donations of Bitcoins.

Bitcoin is a virtual peer-to-peer currency, powered by free software, and we've received several requests over the last year to participate.

Our setup right now is very basic, so we are providing just a single address at which to direct contributions: "1PC9aZC4hNX2rmmrt7uHTfYAS3hRbph4UN". Because of the way the system works, contributions to this address will not be fully anonymous.

If you'd like us to know who the contribution came from, and be able to acknowledge receipt of your donation, then please email donate@fsf.org with your name and address, and contribution info.

Thank you for your support!
